Meagan Jorgenson is owner and Director of Axis Dance Co, established in Durant, Oklahoma in 2015.  Meagan began dancing at age five. After a year of tap class, she was hooked and added new disciplines to her class schedule each year. Soon, she was taking every discipline that was offered for her age and her love and passion for dance began to blossom.

Meagan received a Bachelor of Science in Dance Management from the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University, graduating magna cum laude.  Oklahoma City University's dance department is consistently ranked among the very top in the nation. While at OCU, Meagan was a member of the American Spirit Dance Company. In addition to learning from some of the most talented and most recognized names in the dance industry, she also received a broader education in the arts management field and learned the importance of professionalism, dedication and a strong work ethic.

As a teacher, Meagan feels it is important that she not just teach dance steps and technique. Dance is truly so much more than just steps. She works hard to teach the value of teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, commitment and good, hard work - and in the process pass on her love for dance, music and all art forms to her students.

 

Meagan's students have been accepted into dance and arts programs at universities such as Oklahoma City University and Liberty University as well as elite dance training programs such as Joffrey Ballet's Trainee Program.  Her students have won numerous scholarships at several dance conventions and competitions including, Hollywood Vibe, NUVO, Jump, Intrigue, Stage One, Tremaine and more.  Meagan has received several choreography awards for her creative work.

In addition to the studio, Meagan is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Art, Communication and Theatre at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, teaching dance courses.  She is pursuing her Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction - Theatre Pedagogy.  

​

Even as a teacher, Meagan sees the importance of continuing her dance education by attending several dance conventions and intensives across the country each year.

 

When Meagan is not dancing, she is spending time with her husband Mike and her beautiful children, Joseph and Lula Kate.
